I have a 01 e39 530i And the diff blew up and I got a new diff but where the drive shaft connects to the diff it’s still 6 bolts but the bolt pattern on my drive shaft is bigger than the new diff where it connects what diff do I need to get ?
Do you have a bentley manual? I lost mine otherwise I'd pull up pictures. I belive the part you are talking about is apart of the CV (Constant velocity joint) which connects to final drive. To my knowledge all I6 e39 motors were equiped with compatible driveshaft. Where did you get you this replacement differential? Have you done your homework as to what is actually compatible with your car?

yep, probably wrong diff. All six speed diffs are interchangeable. I've done 3.46, 3.64 and 4.10
Yep. What he said. Bought the wrong diff.
I think someplace there's an updated version of this table that lists more E39 models. There's more weirdo stuff than you would think.

OP, not sure where you're located, but I have two 3.46 525it/530i automatic diffs that have the correct size flange. I'm in Charlotte, NC. If you're somewhat nearby, let me know if you need one of them.
***EDIT***, I think I misread your post. Sounds like you might have the manual 530i with the larger flange requirement and you bought an auto diff. If this is the case, disregard my offer as it will only put you in the same situation. I do however think I still have my 528it manual diff, which I think has the larger flange, but it's 2.93 ratio, so not sure it's worth anything to you or not.
