I picked up one of these. Anyone ever installed one? I did not get the instructions for it though. The bolts seem very tight when I place them over the hole and it seems like I will have to pull it slightly to line it up.

The bowing and arching does not look like a very rigid design. It would be stiffer if it went straight across.
And the link says it is for 92-98 318i/is/ti. It may not fit under the hood of a Z3 1.9
Sell it and buy mine

It came off a Z3, so it does fit. Just wondering if there were instructions for installation before I tried to install it.

Just pull/push it to make it fit over the strut bolts. The shock towers, and thus shock bolts, angle in slightly, so you need to compensate when installing.
Or install one side, drop the strut on the opposite side and then get the bar in place and reinstall strut... but thats a lot of work

the Racing Dynamics strut brace I bought 10 years ago for my 2000 M Roadster does not look like that, it goes straight across. I do remember it took a bit of work to get it installed but it was just forcing (by hand) to get it in position for the bolts to line up. If I remember correctly, I think there was a difference in the ones for an S52 vs an S54 when I ordered it--- but I wouldn't bet too much on that.

The RD bar I just bought for my S52 goes straight across. The instructions say to loosely bolt on one side then the other. It says you may need to jack up the second side to get it to fit. I haven’t installed mine yet-I need to do my valve cover gasket first.
I think it's just the 1.9 bar that had to make a U-turn to get to the other side.
If you put the end pieces on one (1) at a time, then fit the bar between them, the angle of the studs has less influence...
(but what's the fun in that__let the new guy do it the hard way )
j/k, welcome to the club!
RF, If you are referring to me as the new guy I can’t believe I got a response from the great RF so fast! Actually thinking back, the instructions did say to do it the end pieces first then connect them but it still said you may need to jack up the last side to line it up. Thanks for the correction. JPL
My car and the car it was from are both 1.9L, so this should be the proper one then. It looks like I should be able to fit it by pulling slightly with my hands.

Remember when you install it to torque the nuts to the proper torque.
Does anyone remember what that torque setting is? I did mine awhile back and don't remember so can't advise.
Yeah, the torque specs for it would be nice. I emailed the company to see if they still had them. Was thinking of installing it this week.

Just an update. I was able to get it on. I removed the ends and installed them separately then installed the bar.
Have not driven it yet, as it was quite late and I was halfway through the seat tilt mod as well.
