Hello guys. Have been considering some new seats and was wondering if any of you would have an idea how to do this.
I really like how it is in the e36 cabrio. You think we could make that work?
I am thinking because I would still want to have the rear seats usable
No one?
Short of a bolt in a fabricated harness bar, any other method is going to be a considerable amount of fabrication to actually be safe and require you to hack up some part of the interior.
The M8 actually has a harness bar set up with 4 points in it. Watch the video ofn YouTube when they show the interior for an idea. It’s very doable and would not cut up your interior, but would render your back seats pretty much useless. The M8 has the whole back seating section removed and instead a carpeted panel in its place for this reason.
Personally I like the seats and think if any modification was to be made it would be simply locating a set of E31 sport seats with the adjustable thigh support and what not.
You will need to find an attachment point for your shoulder belt in the back corner of the car. Not an easy feat. Just toss the rear seats, put in a 4 point cage with a cross bar and have any harness that you want. If you are careful, it could be reversible, no harm, no foul.
