I was wondering what the lightest e36 body. Sedan? Coupe? Compact? Very?
I looked up 1994 specs for curb weights.
1994 325is coupe 5 speed: 3086 lbs
1994 325i sedan 5 speed: 2932 lbs
1994 318ti 5 compact 5 speed: 2745 lbs.
This is curb weight, not exactly body weight, but the best comparison is shown between the 325is coupe and the 325i sedan as they have the same engine and transmission. The 318ti is lighter overall, but it also has an inline 4 engine compared to the inline 6 in the other cars. Not a significant difference with that in mind.
The coupe is heavier to my understanding due to extra reinforcement necessary because it lacks the B pillar supports of the sedan.

I'm surprised to find out that the M3 LTW weighs 2949 pounds. I thought for sure that it'd weigh less than a sedan.
My 328i sedan weighs 2980 (w/out me) with basically full interior and roof rack
318ti

You will not find an organization doing a "balance of performance" adjustment between a coupe and a sedan chassis on the e36, because they weigh roughly the same. I would label claims otherwise simply as interweb folklore. Put them on a scale and find out for yourself... or look at the build threads on this very forum.
But yes, Ti.
