Hello everyone,
First time potential owner of a BMW and I have some questions to pick your brains.
I am looking at a CPO 2015 328i M Sport package (w/ Premium Package, Navigation(which I don't care for), Lighting, and Driver Assist package) with about 37~38k. The dealership wants $27,050.92 OTD with a tax rate of 7.75%.
First, do you think this is a good deal for it?
Second, does the F30 series car have any blaring issues or annoyances that you just can't bare? How is the quality of the car? Coming from a supposedly reliable Honda Civic, which has so many small issues, such as loud A/C shrieks, creaking noise from the moon roof and headliners, A/C system leaking coolant. All of this over the course of a 1 year ownership. I am looking for a vehicle with a somewhat less annoying attitude.
Third, how is the reliability of these cars so far? Nothing that I would need to sell my kidney to fix or replace? And are there any reliable/dependable mechanic shop around LA or Orange County that does not charge a premium for their service? I use to have a VW and always went to Auto Union Tuning in Huntington Beach to service everything. I was wondering if there is an equivalence of that for BMW cars?
Thank you,
Son
I don't have any long term experience yet, but I just bought a 328i xDrive wagon last week. I shopped various parts prices and didn't see anything too crazy. I will probably tune mine at some point, and from what I've read I will keep it pretty mild with the tune.
As for labor prices, no clue - I do almost everything myself. Labor is, obviously, where you get killed.
Current: E36 BMW M3/4/5, F31 BMW 328i xDrive M Sport
Past: Mk6 Golf R APR Stage 2, E30 325i/4/5, E36 328iS/2/5
Was this the one that was for sale at McKenna in Norwalk? Did you end up buying it? I’m planning to buy one in the next couple months myself. The main issue I’ve read about with these cars is a potential timing chain failure that can result in a catastrophic engine failure. Cars produced after January of 2015 have supposedly been produced with the updated parts. At any rate, the dealer should be able to tell you if the car needs it or has had the updated parts installed. I also read about a recall or TSB to replace the oil filter housing. The originals were made of plastic and had a tendency to crack; the replacements are made from aluminum.
