The wheels for a 3 Series is not going to have enough load capacity for a 7 Series. OE wheels are built for a specific car and normally not going to have more load capacity than what is needed for that car.
While I'll normally defer to an expert on something like this (such as yourself) The average weight of a E38 at least in the states is roughly 4,000lbs (I know my 740il is 3800) and the E92 is at 3600 lbs so it's only really a difference of around 400 Lbs so about 100 per wheel....I don't think that will make a huge impression unless your moving very heavy loads all the time...i just wanted to throw that in there..
