    engine overheating in traffic jam

    Hi,
a heating question. These are the symptoms:
    - in idle, engine is heating up nicely until the middle.
    - while driving in a traffic jam, after a minute, engine starts too overheat. the minute I start driving again, temperature falls back perfectly.
    - recently I was maneuvering in an underground parking and the temperature was rising al little bit more than I would have liked... very stressfull ...
But suddenly the fan kicked in really heavy (way too late in my opinion)

Could this be a temperature sensor, a fan sensor or maybe the fan itself?

    Gr.
    Pieter

    Thanks shogun!
I did the tests and its definitely the visco fan clutch.
It will take me some time to find parts and time to place them, so is it a good idea to use the aux fan and use a jumper so it runs on high in the meanwhile?
Or will the aux fan not have enough cooling power?

You can try that, but when the aux fan runs on high it is quite noisy sometimes. Keep an eye on the gauge when you drive like that.
