gasket ring lost in the head

    Hi all,

today i removed the valve cover to check if my banjo bolts was at their own place.
One was ok, the second was in the head but i'm unable to find the gasket ring.
I'm a little bit surprised because the old owner checked that 4 year ago all was ok and the engine has not worked much since. On the other m30 i have i think it has never been checked before i checked and... it was ok, huh.

Did someone got the same about a gasket ring ?

    Thanks.

I think he's talking about the washer for the banjo bolt.

If I understand correctly upon examination/dis-assembly the seal ring was found to be missing.
Without it there would be a massive leak and probably the rockers would be starved and damaged. I'm wondering if the ring is not hiding on the banjo fitting or stuck on the head and went unnoticed.
I'd not worry much about the whereabouts of the missing ring, it is too large to be ingested into the oil pump and soft enough to not cause any damage if tossed about the crankcase a few times. It could cause issues if caught up in the timing chain but I think that very unlikely.
Be sure all the seal rings are in place and the bolts snugged up with thread locker and carry on.

Nope, the ring is not hiding on the head. I took my endoscope and my magnet to check if i had a chance to find it but nah, nothing.
When i saw this thing i believed, but nope. https://i.imgsafe.org/50/50af558a2f.jpeg
I'll change my oil (not only about that, i'll need to do the maintenance) and i'll see in the oil pan with the endoscope if i can see something.
I'm waiting for the ring i ordered now.

    Guys, juste another thing.
Do you think it's necessary to align the holes with the oil sprayer bar ? I mean, i'm thinking about the oil flow.
