Put some brembos on the damn thing if used for autox/track/twisties. Took my car out for the first time around some twisties and hit 100 before a quick sweeping left turn. Didn't think I was going to make it lol.

A fancy BBK would not have slowed you any quicker that stock brakes in good condition on that one turn. Might have felt better though. The BBK advantage is after multiple long hard braking in rapid succession.

Many racers just use good rotors, good fluid, good lines, and good pads on stock brakes. Some also add ducting.

Last year, I installed Stoptech ST40 front and rear. I had always wanted a BBK and got them at great prices. But in the driving I do, they don’t stop any better than the stock M3 brakes did.

If you want to feel great bite, buy autocross pads like Carbotech AX6, Hawk HP Plus, G Force R6. They will squeak and dust but feel great. They have a little more heat capacity than stock pads but are definitely not track pads (track pads dont bits well from cold but will keep performing when very hot).

Good info here. In the SCCA ITR days, we'd use Hawk blues, super blue brake fluid, good ducting, and some quality blank rotors with good results. Cross drilled/slotted seemed to crack or warp and wasn't worth the additional cost. Keep in mind these cars only made around 230whp on the dyno.

My non-m turbo doesn't brake as well as my M3/4/5 but it does okay. From what I recall they have smaller calipers, rotors, and master cylinder. I guess it really depends on the type of driving. Track vs spirited. Add 450+ whp or more and things can get hairy.

I had porsche 996 brakes for the front of my car but they wouldn't fit due to the low offset of the arc 8s. Still haven't driven a car with a BBK to this day...

E46 330i front brakes bolt onto E36 325 and 328 and are comparable to E36M3 brakes.

Actually, they Are bigger. Comperes to E46 m3 brakes, only 2mm less thickness. And ofc, "only" one piston in caliber.
I have those in my Turbo Non-M e36, no recrets What so ever. Way better than stocks.
Only litle minus, 17" rim is smallest. And Style 32 with e39 specs Fits like 2mm space

Diameter is a little more, thickness is a little less than E36M3 brakes, which is why I wrote that they are comparable. I don’t know about piston size or brake pad size.

got some work done this weekend. i was able to get the car on the ground, wrap the downpipe, extend coil harness, mount the bumper and align it with new brackets and slides, painted the foglight covers and blacked out the new grills.

later found out my oem plastic valve cover is crack by the turbo. i've sourced out a OBD1 cover and coils.

    small update,

figured out the massive oil leak it was coming from the oil filter housing rear Orings, powder coated the turbo housing and new valve cover, installed -10 bulkheads for a catch can, retorqued the head while the cover was off, install a RD front strut bar also got that powder coated, had to raise the rear of the hood to clear the fittings on the valve cover and help cooling also.

yes thats a wheel lug threaded and sealed in the valve cover. lol

bit of an update on this car, looks like the older pictures are gone for some odd reason.

    so just a re-cap

setup was a stock M52b28 ces spacer/cutring/bw362/rktunes didnt feel like putting anymore than 15psi of boost and renting a dyno for remote tuning.

so i switched a few things up this year:

-ditched Stock DME for ECUmaster Classic tuned by my buddy Paulo @AES
    -installed VAG coils
-BW 366 (bw362 rear seal blew and got a deal on the 366)
-pinned up my stock harness to ECUmaster
    -100lbs inj
    -my old supra SR3 recaros
    -resized my CCW
    -RTD shifter

motor still stock but now on just E85.

car made 567whp @24psi after about 4-5 hours on the dyno sorting all the issues. cleaned the drivability on the street and turned the Boost to 28psi im assuming its closer to 600 or a little over and with boost by gear this car is a riot.

before switch to the BW366 i was able to see the power differences from Stock DME vs ECUmaster

first sheet is 15psi RKtunes BW362- pump gas
second sheet is 15psi ECUmaster BW362- pump gas
    third sheet is 24PSI BW366- E85

Its interesting that the power is falling off up top on the bigger turbo and was still climbing on the smaller one.

not sure but i wish i was able to push the 362 at 24psi to see what it would make, but it was burning alot of oil so i swapped it out for the 366.
