Where to get battery negative under hood

Need to test wire and crankshaft sensors under hood and the Bentley say connect to battery negative. Can I assume any chassis metal surface is battery negative? Or something else is needed?

    thanks.

Chassis ground is a battery ground, the battery grounds directly to the body in the trunk, but under the hood there is a grounding lug on the rh side strut tower iirc

Germans just think the rest of the world could figure it out...yet they never actually provided a devoted negative post in order to attach jumper-cables!

They actually do on most, sometimes its just hidden or disguised though. There is a level of satisfaction that comes when you find it and use it.
