    Average distance to the moon

238,855 miles according to a web search.
Our 528i has just passed that milestone yesterday.
It's been a good car, not sure it would get me BACK from the moon though.

I’ve got around 32k mikes to go in my 540it before I reach the moon... considering my driving habits that’ll probably happen within a year or so.

I've been to the dark side of the moon, nothing to see there, traded in my 530 for one of the hardly used moon rovers when I got there, got pulled over for doing 92 over the limit out on the Sea Of Tranquility Expressway, Judge was an A-hole....

Ha, I've never heard of this reference. I'm just over 222k on my 540iT. I'd love to keep mine until I make it to the moon!

I hear the return trip is not a pleasant journey, gets very expensive.

"There's no dark side of the moon really. As a matter of fact, its all dark."

FWIW, my 95 Camry just crossed 250k miles, and there has been less maintenance spent on it in the last ten years than in this year alone for my BMW...

I'm not surprised. One of the reasons we bought a Highlander last year. 29K miles so far and we haven't spent a penny on it. Free oil changes, etc from the dealer.

True, but you have to remember that a lot of what you're doing is pretty optional... if you started overhauling the Camry's entire suspension system with brand new parts it would probably start costing some money too. At 250k there's probably plenty of things you *could* replace, but since the Camry isn't like a sporty car with a tight suspension, you can ignore all of that as long as it's not horrible.

That's just one way....You plan on staying there?

And indeed, there is no "dark side" to the moon--and I literally worship Pink Floyd.

That's a misnomer. The scientific, and real, terms are "near side" and "far side." All sides of the moon see sunlight.

Still on original calipers and wheel bearings all around on both cars, though that's probably more to do with the climate than anything, I would guess.
