Hello,
I do not have the motorized folding mirrors, just manual.
They wiggle (have play) so much that I have to reset my mirrors for every drive.
I wish to take them apart and find a way to stiffen them up, so they don't move about.
I also don't wish to break them.
Has anybody seen any information on our side mirrors and their disassembly?
Thanks!!
Bump
I've read many mirror threads.
I've replaced my glass with convex, which I'm getting used to.
I've cleaned the electrical contacts, we'll see if the mirror tilts about any longer over the next few weeks.
The white wire is clipped (no retraction), was like that when I bought it... will likely reconnect and test/fix.
HOWEVER,
I still have the issue of the mirror assembly physically wiggling, which when pulled in a 1/4 inch the glass is not showing me where I need to.
In the attached picture (borrowed), I've highlighted in a green square a spring, which is where the assembly hinges from.
Below this is where the grooved base allows the mirror to click into various positions (really just clicks at center point).
This is where I'm wiggling.
RealOEM doesn't detail these parts.
I've found no write up on how to correct this wiggling.
Does the spring come off in some way, allowing access to play around? (I don't see how)
Thanks!!
On folding electric folding mirrors when the pivot bolt has been tight we have pushed a bit of vacuum hose in to the gap of the two parts
Fascinating. Between the mirror assembly and what it pivots on, if I understand correctly. I'll explore that. (seems a good idea)
I cleaned my electrical contacts inside the center piece of the mirror and to date, the mirror has not self adjusted position when opening the doors (wonky memory type thing). Very please with that TSB.
