    Speedometer issues M240xi

Has anyone had accuracy issues with their speedometer? Mine registers about 5% more that actual. Dealer says this is normal & they said the BMW variance tolerance is 10%! Seriously? A $60k finely tuned sport machine and I have to do a mental calc to determine how fast I'm going? What about the odometer? Is it registering 5% more miles as well?

I checked the accuracy of the speedo in my M240i last month. I was driving on a relatively deserted road in southern Virginia. I used the Speed app on my iPhone to check the speedo’s accuracy. At an indicated speed of 65mph the Speed app showed I was driving at a speed of 64mph.

Its not the car's fault, if you want you can take your argument up with the EU regulations...

    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/glob...ticle11487709/

European law (ECE-R39) says speedometers cannot show speeds less than the actual speed, and they must never show more than the 110 per cent of actual speed plus 4 km/h. So, under those rules, a car could be moving at 100 km/h, but the speedometer could legally display as high as 114 km/h.
edit: Also, the odometer is actually quite accurate, its just the speedo that reads high due to regulations.
