Hello Forum,
New to the BMW world and to the forum. I've been looking at purchasing an X5 for a minute now and came across one that I am interested in but I would like to get some advice.
It's a 2011 X5 xDrive50i, super clean inside and out, runs and drives perfectly, the only issue is the mileage at 142,000. Besides that the Autocheck comes back clean and the price is where it needs to be.
Any advice on what i should do? What can i expect from a vehicle with that high of mileage? Coming from a Cadillac with 180,000 miles and going strong I am just worried because I don't know much about BMW.
Thanks in advance,
Alex
From what I've personally gleaned from the BMW sites, BMW can't build a reliable v8. If you're ready to dump $$ for oil leaks, turbo failures, Vanos issues etc, then knock yourself out. But I "personally" wouldn't touch any late-model Beemer with that amount of mileage.
I'd rather make out with the mother-in-law....

Hey Alex, I got the same questions, got rid of my 2003 x5 because of all the 4.4 valley pan gasket / timing chain issues. But hearing the new ones are way better. Been driving an Fj cruiser now for years as the daily, but want an x5 again
Ha! The new ones are NOT way better. They are way worse!!! Oil leaks, valve stem seal and/or guides, oil pan leaks, rear end cover leaks, transfer cases, turbos, etc.

My FJ is up to 120k miles so far. Best vehicle I ever bought. I'll never buy a German vehicle again. Prissy beotches.
How sad. Used to be you could bank on any German vehicle lasting forever. Now they cost 100 times more and last 1/10th of the time they used to.
