We found the diagram below in one of the other S54 threads on here. So far with following this diagram everything is running fine with NO overheating issues! It was still a ton of work to make this system work! We were able to use a combination of the M3 & the 5 series coolant hoses. For Black hard pipe that goes to heat core outlet "A" we used the M3 hose that fit just fine. For the inlets "B" & "C" from heater core to control valve we used 5 series hoses. We decided to keep the factory radiator with the customer just installing new recently. For the Upper & Lower rad hoses, these had to be complete custom. Now with The M3 hoses just a few inches too short and the 5 series had the Q.D.s on both ends where does this leave us? With that being said the Q.D.s are only held to the hose with a metal band, we were able to remove band with dremel/ cutoff wheel and separate the Q.D.s from the hose. This allows us to use the right Q.D.s needed, the bottom was pretty simple with being only 1 design having temp sensor, While the upper was trickier, not only did i have to find the right Q.D. elbow but the right hose with slight bend to account for offset between S54 water pump and 525 radiator. No going back now, With using the 525 elbow from upper hose, we were able to get some universal rad hose from our local parts store matching the size of S54 w.p. and cutting to length. This just leaves us with 1 question? What to do with the hard line that runs from W. P. around front of the motor and into M3 coolant tank? Well with a little trial and error, we came up with using the factory M3 hose elbow and just so happened that the extra hose from 525 aux valve that we deleted had the right Q.D. needed to fit the elbow from the hard pipe, with that all that was needed was to cut it to length to mate with the M5 coolant tank. Part # 11 53 1 438 632 for hose joining M3 elbow to M5 tank
With E-box we decided to keep budget down. It was significantly cheaper to lengthen M3 wire harness and connect to 525 wiring using lots of diagrams and going wire-by-wire. vs. buying an 01-02 Z3 M engine harness. (plus costing about $ 700 from the dealer and waiting about 3 weeks to arrive strait from Germany) With that we do still have some bugs to work out. #1. Wipers do not work. #2. no reverse lights. #3. Oil pressure reading. #4. Cruise Control. I am open to any insight someone may have on working out these issues! Thanks in Advance!

For the reverse lights did you run a wire to the cluster?
WOW!!!!

2014 -2018......So many great ideas, keen insight and pics and diagrams and details on the pages that span 4 years!!!!
What a resource this forum is.....AWESOME!
Even cooler to see all the progress.....and TEAM work!
Yes wire tied into cluster, no change. On the M3 the reverse switch just used a power wire but on the 5 series it uses power and ground. Just had to retrace our diagrams for both cars side by side and once you ground the switch the reverse lights function as normal.

Great to see one of these truly pulled off end to end. Its been a concept discussed 100x but never done (for reasons discussed earlier of course). It still remains a bit of a "do it just to do it and be the only one (two-three)" project, but, cool nonetheless.
