There's forum opinions for ya!

But look at the numbers and 3.91 - 4.1, uh, THAT'S whats real close... Its like 8% difference from 3.62->3.91 and then 5% difference from 3.91->4.1...

Numerically, actually the 3.91 is almost EXACTLY 2/3 of the way towards the 4.1... Which seems like its EXACTLY where you'd like to be for "I want most of the benefit but maybe not spin quite so many RPM on the highway".... Probably would have been what I went for if I'd done it...
LOGIC escapes many on that forum.... The 13% difference is most definitely noticeable especially from a TQ perspective. I'm sure you could feel the 8% in the 3.91.

If I could do it all over, I would have tried to find a 3.91 for a more daily friendly car... (Deal fell into my lap, so pulled the trigger). The 4.10 has made 1st very short, so I typically start in 2nd with passengers and they don't even notice. Almost feels like a dogleg 5 speed LOL. I'm sure the 3.91 would have a more usable 1st.

Exhaust will be a Y joint coming off the headers with a single 3" magnaflow exhaust all the way back.

Should be good. At the local shop they've been finding S54's seem to really benefit massive exhaust tubes. Which is somewhat surprising to me but the race car on the dyno does not lie.

As much as I LOVE crash and burn build-failures #schadenfreudedouchebag

The E39 looks all stripped out and ready to receive implantations in the background to this post from a few days ago...

ALIVE AND WELL on a Friday!!!
I had to go look for myself.....and it looks awesome!
The front aluminum subframe was reinforced and notched to accommodate the bigger oil pan...fit and finish looked right!
Next week should be the BIG push.....

Cool. Glad to see this is still going. I'd love to see more pics of the subframe. Also interested to see how they address the cooling system and intake.

Thanks for those . Looks like the subframe didn't even need to be notched that much.

Is there enough room for the rear sway bar to move!? Looks like it can't pivot in there!?

Doesn't look like the pivot for it has changed from stock. Looks like plenty of room between oil pan and the bar.

I’d actually say there’s more room than stock. The M54 pan comes pretty close in stock form. If you have the links removed, the top of the bar will press on the bell housing/oil pan area.

I assume you meant the front sway bar, right?

No the 3rd pic up there (the one that says "attached thumbnails") is of the rear SF & diff etc. The rear sway looks its been boxed in? Or maybe that's just the pic angle. Of course I'm used to looking at Touring RSF's, so my eyeballs are used to stuff that looks a little different, but I never seen a swaybar boxed in like that. Again might be pic angle, but doesn't look like theres room for the swaybar to rotate there...

Ah, I see what you mean. Don’t forget, the suspension is at full droop, so if anything, it’ll pivot up and away. Should be fine.

I mean you're right in that it'll pull harder since the S54 has more torque everywhere... but you've also got 1500 more revs to play with, so you may as well install a shorter diff too to really wake up the car.
