Hello everyone,
So I bought my ‘15 X5 back in October to replace my beloved daily E38 Sport Individual. After many test drives I went with the N55 for daily reliability. After about 4 days I mounted a set of winter wheels/tires and used all winter. These were 275s square and noticeably narrower than the 20” factory wheel setup. Every time I drove on open road, the steering was extremely loose, vague, Darty. Took it on a trip of about 1k miles highway and honesty it was very annoying. Had very little control as normal BMWs have. I assumed it was combination of the size and blizzak snow tires.
Installed my summer wheels last week hoping that the issue would be resolved, yet no change. It is on brand new Bridgestone summer tires. Everything seems tight underneath. My father has an E70 X5 35i M sport with the 20s as well and the steering in his builds muscles. Similarly in my wife’s E90 and my E92. Is there something I am missing? I don’t see a power steering fluid reservoir. Is this the dreaded electric steering rack?
Please help
Thanks
Stathi
