Looking for any assistance out there to help me with my inability to connect with most modules using the scanner I purchased. I get error messages about the IKE & EWE. Only 2 modules are found (the first two but I can't remember what they are..sorry!) Every other modules is not found. Took the scanner apart and pins 4&5 and 7&8 are already soldered. I haven't tried to bridge pins 1&2 yet. I have a 1999 740IL with the OBDII port below the radio, not under the hood. The software and drivers are installed and running okay as far as I can tell. Any ideas?
You likely have a round 20-pin connector in addition to OBD port. You need to be using under hood connector.

yup, the obd port in the E38 is fairly useless. Use the round plug under the hood

Yes,you'll be looking for the round diagnostic port, underhood,
not OBD2 port,underdash.
I jumped 2 - 17 and 2 - 20 in the pacman port under the hood and was able to read more modules than before. Problem is that I still can't read the LCM, which I am trying to reach so I can recode it. Would getting the cable to just read the pacman port be the wisest thing to do and do you think that I will be able to read the LCM from there?
