The only seats I find comfortable are the merino leather seats in the M3 and M4, and the seats in the 4 series convertible. There is something about the design of the other sport seats with the horizontal stitching on the rear bottom and lower back that causes lower back ache. The "regular" seats in the 3 and 4 seem very hard and need more padding, IMHO.
I HAD the damn seat fixed. Took me 3 months of owning it and a 10 hour drive to South Carolina (the first 6 of which was like sitting on cement), and finally struck the right combo of lumbar and seating position in June 2018. Today, had it up to the dealer to have the transfer case replace and got it back with all the seat memory wiped. I guess there is only one spot where the seat position works for me, because the 40 minute drive home from the dealer was enough to make me feel like hell again.
So I guess I'll get to spend another few months trying to re-find the last seating position. Plus, I have no way of knowing if the lumbar adjustment got reset either (though since it isn't tied to the memory, I'm hoping not).
I have the same problem with my sport seats on my 2016 f31 that I bought last year.
Who wants to trade for non sport seats? Mine are black leather.
I’m in the Virginia area...PM me if you’re interested. And no I’m not kidding!
I'd invest in a used plain (not sport seat) and throw it in, and see if it works. Remember, four bolts and the seat is removed. Just make sure the electrical connections fit.
My wife has 2018 440i with red sport seats and she can't get the seat high enough. My wife is 5'4'. Would trade for the standard seat.

Looking for anyone who wants to trade front seats. I have a 2017 G30 with black sport seats. Looking for black comfort seats. Can travel to swap them out. Thanks!
Strange. I spent 20 hours straight on a drive in mine with no issue.
I would never buy a car without sports seats because they are so comfortable on long drives.
I grew up driving trucks with their upright seat8ng and MGS where I had to sit Italian style. Seat bottom reclined.
much prefer the knee high seat bottom reclined, back slightly reclined seating position.

If I were to give my Touring a first name, I'd probably name it "Alan".
Mostly because I like puns.
