    2004 BMW x5 3.0 service light won't reset

I have followed the procedure about 15 times and I can't get the service inspection light to reset. It's currently showing one yellow and one red light with the inspection light on as well. I just changed the oil and did a few other small maintenance items to the car. It has about 117k miles on it. Anyone else run into this issue?

    Procedure I have followed:
1 - Iginition OFF (POS 0) with key in
2 - Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (ACCESSORY)
3 - Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display
4 - Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. until "Reset" or "Re" flashes
5 - While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 secs.

Make sure (double sure) that you're not turning past KL R (ignition position 1) to KL 15 (ignition position 2)...reset won't happen if iggy is in KL 15.

Still not able to reset it. Does anyone know if you can't reset the service light if error codes are being thrown? I don't see any codes on the dash and the engine light isn't on. But I haven't hooked up a tool to read for any codes. Just a thought I had when trying to reset it.

GREAT!!! Thanks for posting back that you got it to work...and why your past attempts had failed. Many don't come back to update the thread...when its something they've unknowingly overlooked...failing to see that it still helps others in the future because they could be doing the same thing...falling into the same trap.
