I have a ‘95 M3 with a turner chip and some other mods and I’d like to use RomRaider, but I can’t seem to get find a clear answer as to if it can be used on OBD1 cars. Also I know that the S52 uses MS41, but does the S50 use MS41?
The S50 does not use MS41, so you cannot use romraider.

You'll need an Ostrich 2.0 chip emulator and TunerProRT software, with a chip burner/reader (I recommend the budget TL866CS "Mini Pro") you can read the .bin from the chip and load it on the emulator. You can use other .bin mod softwares like WinOLS, HxD but TunerProRT will work directly with the Moates Ostrich 2.0. You'll also need an accurate .xdf file for the .bin read off the chip to make modifications. There isn't any .adx files I know of for OBD1 BMW to get any kind of live data stream but you can cell hit trace one table at a time in TunerProRT to see what bit of information is being used under that RPM vs Load or Coolant temp vs RPM, etc...
You can simply just read, mod and burn chips without the emulator. But the emulator makes everything worlds easier.

It is possible to convert to MS41, not "easily", but I think the end result is worth it. Especially for logging.

I've converted the MS41 flash to run the S50, there were drivability and fuel efficiency improvements.
Power was likely better too. MS41 is a better DME all around.

And if I did that would it still run obd1? Also would it be a better or more cost effective option than a WAR chip?
Explain what you mean by run OBD1. It's an OBD2 capable ecu, it gives you better diagnostic codes, and you can disable the need for readiness emissions inspection, not that you needed that, ever.
If it's just the manifold, and extra emissions stuff, that can all be disabled. The euro cars running same MS41 dme didn't have all that.
Cost, I have no idea. It probably has to do more with how much you do yourself.

By running obd1 I mean using the same sensors and wiring harness as the obd1 dme and not having to install additional sensors and anything for emissions. But you already said all the emissions stuff isn’t required so that part isn’t a concern.
Besides converting the wiring (most difficult part in my opinion), you would need:
-The obd2 m3/328 precat oxygen sensors (grab the stainless exhaust manifold while at it, or better)
-Obd2 328/m3 intake air temp sensor is necessary
-A bigger maf is recommended, at least the stock 96+ m3 maf, but better with 803 or 540i maf (*must be accounted for in tune!* Critical component for optimal running)
-pinktop 21.4lbs injectors recommended

How many oxygen sensors are necessary? I know the S50 just has a single sensor and the S52 has about 6. I have aftermarket headers already with spots for the obd2 oxygen sensors.
Just 2 "precat" for mixture control.
1 for cylinder 1-3, and another for 4-6.

Seems easy enough, although that being said I’m sure there will be a few snags in such a project since it’s not plug and play. But it definitely sounds like a good option.
