I’ve read a million threads about E36 brakes having a low pedal when pads are 50% or less. I have had this issue for the three years I’ve been tracking. Is there a shim insert on the market or way to make one that would give back some thickness and pedal firmness that is safe for track use?

BimmerWorld used to offer a titanium shim, probably more to fight heat transfer.
The alternative is to grind the remaining pad material off an outer pad and use an outer pad plate as your shim.

Hmmm. Interesting. I have some street pads I might be able to grind down.
