Slave will work as well.

Maybe you are thinking of the GS6-45BZ trans that came on the later n55 cars? It has a more traditional looking input shaft.

Big Power Manual Transmission (S6-53) Swap

I got this guy all mounted up last night. Fits perfect. No issues with the trans tunnel or anything. Just waiting on the clutch to try this guy out.

I took measurements (cmm) if the mounts and trans brace and then measurements of the shifter location.

I’ll machine little shift carriers for these setups also. Not included in the kit but available for those of you looking to keep oem shift lever selection.

Its almost exactly 53” flange to flange. So those of you looking to use a dss or similar you can check your shaft versus that. That measurement is from output flange face to driveshaft face, so if you want a guibo in there or an adapter that needs to be included.

People are not good at figuring out driveshaft stuff. I would recommend running down a bolt in option for that.

Yeah I’ll probably end up doing that. I researched building carbon shafts years back.. not much clearance so I might have to finally do it.

The euro 6-speed DS is 53.82”. I measured my 420G to 210 diff to be 53.5 and had it shortened to that.. Maybe the CV could yaw up the difference in length

That would be awesome, only problem is guibo bolt patern difference, i'm sure there's a solution(time and money). I'd love to see a guibo tri-bolt adapter to standerd domestic u-joint 3" chromoly or what ever, same to 6 bolt cv and 4 bolt u-joint diffs. Not 100% sure on options for this.

I’ve got a DSS one piece so all I’d probably need is a new forward adapter.

Recent developments include indirectly bringing DSS onboard. Complete driveline solutions will be available for this trans and 188/210mm rear ends. More information on this in a few days as we have some pricing and better info.

I set up the driveline to be about 0.25* high so once weight is on the mounts the driveline operating angle will be between 0.0-0.25*. Transmission brace will be out for quotes Monday.

Shift linkages are already quoted and prototypes are on the way.

    Things are moving.

I wrapped up all the parts and got them all out for quotes. Expecting to have everything here 5/14/18.

    Parts quoted or in production:
    -Selector Rod (DSSR)
    -Adapter Ring
    -Trans Brace
-Shifter carrier for oem style shift rods
    -Clutch Kit

On some other good news the bmw e92 328Xi Driveshaft (26107573482). These are very common driveshafts found for 75-100$. You only need the front half, which you pair with your oem e36 rear half and everything is spot on. This reduces the entry threshold for everyone a bit I hope.

I will be using this shaft combo for the testing of this kit, DSS will be producing a 1 piece shaft for the kit also (Still waiting on pricing) for those of you who will be looking for it.

I'm hoping to have my clutch this week for testing.

For what it's worth - Just ordered up a used 6spd MT from an 08 335i w/ 85k for $350 and an 08 328xi AT rear driveshaft for $75. These are all readily available and inexpensive

    I can't wait for this

Isn’t there a specific model number that as important here. Or do all n54 trans work fine?

From what I understand a white label trans is what Zack is using for the mock up currently.

This is really awesome work! And we want to thank Zach for allowing us to include some additional Driveshaft options for your 355 trans swap kit.

We are on the list for one of his conversion kits to put in our project widebody e36, which we hope to have ready in the next couple months that should be putting down some big power. I myself have always been a manual trans guy at heart, and it pleases me greatly to have a BMW trans swap conversion option that can hold 1000+whp reliably to use. Can't wait to test it out!

We have been working with DSS to develop a shaft for our project widebody car with our 750 diff conversion that will handle the power, and work with the 335 trans swap Zach is making. We reached out to Zach since we thought it would be great to offer some DSS driveshaft options for those of you interested in a 1000hp driveshaft solution to work with this trans swap as well.

As Zach mentioned... options would be for either 4 or 6 bolt OEM E36 188mm diffs, or for the 750 6 bolt 210mm diff conversions in either chromoly or carbon fiber.

List pricing for the E36 335 Trans Swap Chromoly Shafts is $892.49 and Carbon Shafts is $1469.99

We can offer Group Buy Pricing under 12 shafts for 15% off. 12 shafts and over Group Buy Pricing will be 25% off.

Group Buy pricing for Chromoly Shafts at 15% off is $758.62
12 shafts and over at 25% off is $669.37

Group Buy pricing for Carbon Shafts at 15% off is $1249.50
12 shafts and over at 25% off is $1102.50

    Shipping is $45.00 UPS ground

DSS 335 swap CES Shaft Options are as follows....

BMWSH2-CES3 E36 BMW with 335 Transmission to stock 6-Bolt Rear 3" Chromoly 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

BMWSH2-CES3-C E36 BMW with 335 Transmission to stock 6-Bolt Rear 2.75" Carbon 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

BMWSH2-CES4 E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and stock 4-bolt Differential 3" Chromoly 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

BMWSH2-CES4-C E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and stock 4-bolt Differential 2.75" Carbon 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

    BMWSH2-CES5 E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and 7-series (6-bolt) Differential 3" Chromoly 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

    BMWSH2-CES5-C E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and 7-series (6-bolt) Differential 2.75" Carbon 1-Piece CV

We would be happy to start a list and update it from our end, and have customers PM us so we do not clutter this thread, or However Zach would like to handle this part of the group buy.... These shafts are made to order and are not something that is on the shelf, so the quicker we can fulfill the group buy for these, the quicker we can place the order and get them going. Maybe a cut off date for the DSS group buy would be advisable so we do not delay placing the order for those that get on the list and are waiting.
