I need a transmission
The GS6-53BZ was used with the N62 V8 in the E60 545i's and 550i's.
I'm looking at using one on an S62. The bellhousing looks close, but haven't bought a trans to fit it yet. The S62 uses a crank trigger on the flywheel/flexplate. The N62 has an internal crank trigger. The GS6-53BZ does not have the crank sensor boss in the bellhousing that the 420G has to read the flywheel.
Also used in the E60 M5 and the F10 M5.
If you could determine the exact location, could a boss be welded onto the bell housing? Seems like a possibility but I have not studied the issue.

Very cool kit here! Definitely the way to go for a HO motor!
PMC makes an adapter plate for this tranny to mate with the S62. I have had one for years, but have never gotten around to experimenting with it. Would really like to try fitting a ZF-320 to an S62 for E46 M3 track conversions.

The ZF320 from the E34 530i bolts right up to the S62... It just needs to have the crank sensor boss added...
Probably not many E34 530i 5 speed manual were made.
On the other hand a lot of those cars care no longer on the road so if you keep looking you should eventually find parts. Try this place to see if there is a trans in your area (I just searched and it seemed like there are used manual trans):

It looks like the 545i/645i early models have a GS6-53BZ with the pilot bearing in crankshaft, AND a boss for the crank speed sensor.
Check it out

So who's done this swap? How does the clutch feel. Is it noisy?

Clutch is not noisy but the dual ceramic version is difficult to modulate. Releases high and very quick. Pedal pressure is not bad. Organic or one ceramic and one organic might be ideal if you don’t need to hold 1000rwhp. After fusing 2 clutches at the dragstrip, I did not want to mess around. Ceramic can take the heat.

For what it's worth, there is atleast one 2000-2003 m5 s62 on eBay right now with a 9 bolt flywheel. Every 545i I've seen on eBay has a 9 bolt flywheel.
According to realoem, both share the same clutch diameter as well, so there could be some potential here even if it may not apply to all s62s
I am pretty sure an E36M3 slave but there is a slight possibility it’s a 325i slave (whichever one was sometimes recommended when using heavy duty clutches on E36 ZF320 to maintain a closer to stock pedal feel). My recollection is I had changed back to stock from that 325i slave a couple of years ago.
I am using the factory helper spring on the pedal. I have run with and without it over the years.
So can be n62 gs6-53bz fit on m6x and s62 engines ?
