For the e46 platform I imagine the shift carrier we developed for the e36 will work, the shift selector rod is adaptable so no problems there, but the brace would need to be tested. I use the rear set of holes on the e36 and i am not sure if these translate to the e46.

Regardless, the brace I designed for the e36 has large pads on either side so it a matter of drilling a hole or two.

I think you would be working at a defect coming from the diesel because they run a different engine angle I believe. I have these guys rotated CCW 7* iirc.

I'd actually like to pick your brain on some e46 stuff if you are up for it sometime.

Finally doing the trans swap. Did CES ever do a GS6-53 plus adapter plate to E32 210mm diff DSS driveshaft? I don’t think I can adapt my ZF320 to E32 diff DSS driveshaft because the GS6-53 output flange is 105mm versus the 96mm of the ZF320. My understanding is that DSS uses a CV joint rather than a u-joint and adapter plate for the larger output flange.

We are on the list for one of his conversion kits to put in our project widebody e36, which we hope to have ready in the next couple months that should be putting down some big power. I myself have always been a manual trans guy at heart, and it pleases me greatly to have a BMW trans swap conversion option that can hold 1000+whp reliably to use. Can't wait to test it out!

We have been working with DSS to develop a shaft for our project widebody car with our 750 diff conversion that will handle the power, and work with the 335 trans swap Zach is making. We reached out to Zach since we thought it would be great to offer some DSS driveshaft options for those of you interested in a 1000hp driveshaft solution to work with this trans swap as well.

As Zach mentioned... options would be for either 4 or 6 bolt OEM E36 188mm diffs, or for the 750 6 bolt 210mm diff conversions in either chromoly or carbon fiber.

List pricing for the E36 335 Trans Swap Chromoly Shafts is $892.49 and Carbon Shafts is $1469.99

We can offer Group Buy Pricing under 12 shafts for 15% off. 12 shafts and over Group Buy Pricing will be 25% off.

Group Buy pricing for Chromoly Shafts at 15% off is $758.62
12 shafts and over at 25% off is $669.37

Group Buy pricing for Carbon Shafts at 15% off is $1249.50
12 shafts and over at 25% off is $1102.50

    Shipping is $45.00 UPS ground

DSS 335 swap CES Shaft Options are as follows....

BMWSH2-CES3 E36 BMW with 335 Transmission to stock 6-Bolt Rear 3" Chromoly 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

BMWSH2-CES3-C E36 BMW with 335 Transmission to stock 6-Bolt Rear 2.75" Carbon 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

BMWSH2-CES4 E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and stock 4-bolt Differential 3" Chromoly 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

BMWSH2-CES4-C E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and stock 4-bolt Differential 2.75" Carbon 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

    BMWSH2-CES5 E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and 7-series (6-bolt) Differential 3" Chromoly 1-Piece CV Driveshaft

    BMWSH2-CES5-C E36 BMW with 335 Transmission and 7-series (6-bolt) Differential 2.75" Carbon 1-Piece CV

We would be happy to start a list and update it from our end, and have customers PM us so we do not clutter this thread, or However Zach would like to handle this part of the group buy.... These shafts are made to order and are not something that is on the shelf, so the quicker we can fulfill the group buy for these, the quicker we can place the order and get them going. Maybe a cut off date for the DSS group buy would be advisable so we do not delay placing the order for those that get on the list and are waiting.

No one ever expressed that much interest in them... Until now that is 😁 Our shop car getting the 335 swap is still at the bodyshop so we do not have the car to do the measurements. Thank you pbonsalb for working with us to get these and have shafts made!

I inquired about these a few months back. Please let us know when they are available! I have yet to install my 210 diff until I figure out the driveshaft situation.

Silly question, would this bolt up to an m62tub44 with the same adapter plate?

V8 and I6 bellhousings have different bolt spacing to orient the trans to the motor. You might find a plate at PMCbut the plate spaces the trans back so you have to compensate for that with a special flywheel. Maybe PMC makes one. Google PMC BMW M62 transmission adapter or something like that.

The other thing to look into is whether the V8 version of the GS6-53 fits an M62. It was used on the E9xM3, the F10M5 and maybe some others (M6). Might bolt right up but I have no idea about trans compatibility among the V8s.

We did something like 5 partial kits and 8 full kits.

Partial kits where we supplied the ring and parts.

I haven't forgot about you vollosso. I'm still working on the new blue turbo e46 m3. This one's making 870hp/630tq. So far, the trans is holding, but I just replaced the differential. If I break the transmission in the fall, I'll take it out of service for the winter and get your kit in this car. I already bought a wrecked 335 with the trans so it's on the shelf/ready to go!

What search engines are people using to source the transmissions? Ebay prices on these things are pretty high ($800-1000) and that is before shipping. I'm sure I am also not getting all the proper hits with searching for the exact PN either which stinks.

I located a bunch on car parts dot com or something like that at LKQ yards within 100 miles for less than eBay. A local yard was affiliated with one of those yards and I was able to get it to transfer the trans and they sold it to
me at near cost due to a connection. 73k mile GS6-53 listed at $615 that I got for $450. It was an 07 or 08.
