Well the cheaper price is certainly attractive

I think I may be the only one running this kit so far, and its been great. I've got just about 900 miles on the clutch break-in and it being my first twin disc it took some getting used to but it's gotten smoother with mileage. I was able to swap in an e90 Xi rear driveshaft (front half) like Zack listed and it has been smooth up to 140+ a handful of times. Holding 18psi on my GT40r s52 somewhere in the 570-600whp range I would estimate.
I did need to slightly modify the shift carrier a little bit to accept my UUC e36 short shift kit (I believe the updated shift carrier takes care of this), but other than that every nut & bolt was supplied and the fitment of the adapter plate was pretty spot on. There was a very slight whine of the starter on first start due to misalignment when I bolted it on. I loosened it and retightend and its been silent ever since.
Overall this trans is buttery smooth. There has never been a harsh engagement or a sloppy shift so I'm not really sure why people have complained about this trans. I have yet to launch with it due to my fear of losing some rear end part so I will comment on that when I make it to the track. I do want to change my shifter setup though in the near future. Maybe a body mounted RTD or CAE.
6th gear now cruises at a healthy 2900rpms @ 75mph - this is on a 245/40r18 and 3.23LSD. I can finally take the car on longer trips without going deaf, AND I can make passes without needing to downshift thanks to the s52 low end grunt.
Last weekend I got to run a 2017 Hellcat Challenger bone stock 50-120 and took the W!!! It's awesome because 50mph is at about 3500-3600rpm in 3rd which puts me just before full boost (brake boosting) and lets me run thru the entire gear before shifting. Easier to fight off these stupid 2 pedal cars with big power lol

I'm getting ready to do this swap to my car. When I search for the Guibo: 26117610061 it comes up as a rubber one. I thought that it was an aluminum Guibo?

Hmm.. Currently sold out of the ZF GS6-53DZ trans, but might have to buy one to get this trans in one of my cars. Loving what I see here. I assume my current UUC twin disk (in front of my 420G) will not work with your ZF GS6-53DZ swap kit?
I wasn't even thinking about this until yesterday when I ran into someone with an e36 drift car. He was telling me about it. To be honest.. I'm not in a huge hurry, but this could be a winter project.

The twin disk clutch and flywheel seem to me to weigh about 44 lbs, which is about what a stock 5 speed clutch and dual mass weigh. Edit— The weight is about 32.5 lbs on my scale versus about 38 lbs for my dual mass plus south bend ceramic clutch. So the twin disk is about 15% lighter.

Theres some variance depending on the disks. For example sprung would be heavier.
I never weighed mine, I don’t own a scale with that capacity. In development the estimated weight was 32#. I think the shipping weight was 35# for mine boxed?
Did you weigh yours? I’m curious now
In the end, even if the weight was the same as oem the inertia will drop due to the smaller disks and pressure plate which results in the sportier feel.

I just weighed my unopened clutch package. I got the sprung 800lb clutch. It was exactly 35 lbs.

It all looks great! I'm taking it to BPC in Raleigh tomorrow to get it installed. I'm excited because I really hate the clutch that is currently in my car. It currently has a grip force that has issues disengaging. I'm a little concerned about the ratios because i have a 2.73 rear end...but I think I'll be really happy with it. I'm used to a 5 speed. 1rst should be really awesome for a change. I need a different turbo.

The front portion of the 328 shaft is really beefy.
I think getting rid of the DSS shaft will make the conversion worth while.
If any body needs one...?
~0.625”

Terra, Here are the components: LINK
The carrier for these ends up being pretty small and you have to lift the shifter up quite a bit to clear the guibo. The rear of the trans is pushed back almost to the shifter area.
The selector rod we end up with is only 2.5-3" so I think it would not work. I would like to see the selector rod they are showing. Looks interesting.

Hmm, well I don't know the tolerances on these things, but I imagine for E46 applications it'd still be easier to modify the 330d components than to design and manufacture all new stuff. Probably could notch the transmission brace a bit and shorten the shift carrier a little (and I guess go for a custom DSSR).
