Whos the guy to go to these days for 210mm diff builds?
I have a spare 210mm 3.15 that I want to have built with different gear sets.
I havent had much luck with contacting Thayer Motorsports. Anyone else doing these anymore?
I can do just about anything myself but the pinion and ring clearance gets me nervous.

He's very good to discuss options with, having personal experience with pretty much every aftermarket option out there.
Butters?
Sourcing the gear set will be the hard part. Changing/adding clutches is easy for anyone who knows how a wrench works and any local driveline shop will be able to set the lash for you.

I've done a few gear changes, 2.93 recently that john is using. No time tho sorry Its wicked time consuming and I just don't have it. Try waganstyle or basically any trans shop. The issue is finding the shims, super expensive from the dealer and most shops don't like having to wait for them.
But if you want to try it yourself, I'll lend you the tools wherever your missing. You will need a press tho.

FYI - Thayer Motorsports is no longer assembling diffs in-house. They just carry the parts to do it.
Received a quote from Wanganstyle - wasnt expecting it to be that high, but its a complete new rebuild. I have to weigh out my options.

Was it an untouched 25 year old diff?
Greg damaged a pinion bearing launching the car as well. Gears and all were fine.

Ya. There are some solid bearing spacer (replacement for crush sleeves) for a few brands of diffs these days. Mfactory have released a few BMW fitments. Rumor has it they will have some E36 and E46 stuff soon. It makes sense to me that the crush sleeve would "crush" some more over time with high power and hard launches leading to damage. The gear want to be pushed apart do they not with the forces and the shape of the gears?
