Installing some new 18" wheels (8" front/8.5" rear)...was interested in running tire sizes 225/40 (front) and 255/40 or 255/35 (rear). The 225/40 diameter is 25.1, the 255/40 is 26 and the 255/35 is 25. I know the 255/40 would be fine but would the 255/35 be ok even at a small lower diameter in the rear? Thanks
Should be fine, as long as within 3% difference.
This website is a lifesaver: https://tiresize.com/comparison/
The 255/40 combo is 3.6% larger in circumference than the 225/40 and will make 29 less revolutions over a mile.
255/35 is only -0.4% smaller in circumference and will add only 2 revolutions more per mile.
I would go with the 255/35
