Sunbelt Stage 3 cams setup question

Hey guys and gals, got a set of Sunbelts Stage 3 cams for my 325is, 2.5l, 11.5:1 CP pistons, moneyshift valve cutouts from VAC, Pauter rods, crank worked, ATI damper, S54 oil system, megasquirt, M50 manifold, etc. Looking for some setup info. I have heard 3 degrees retarded on the intake cam, small vanos shim from Bimmerworld etc. Haven't found adjustable timing gears. Anybody run this setup? Have any knowledge? ZF trans. Running in SCCA STU, currently have a built 3.91, probably switching to the 3.64.

Search, there are a couple good threads on Sunbelt setup. Helped me, but it’s been so long I don’t recall the details. One of the cams straight up, one retarded, vanos limiter, degree wheel and dial indicator, something... you don’t need adjustable gears, all can be done in vanos setup.

Very interested is following your progress and hearing how this engine works for you. I plan on building a 2.5L for STU.

If you have moneyshift valve pockets in your pistons, why do you need a Vanos shim?

    Pistons came first.
I've searched for quite a while. Found some info on stage 2s, but not on the 3s.

If you are using an S52 , no they are not legal. I'm using an M52 2.5l.
9.1.4.1.6. Valve lift is limited to .600 inches
Per spec line of M3 "Engines must use the OEM camshaft lift."

Nice! I'm jealous! Are you going to have it ready for the May race at daytona? I hope to be there and shake it down with amasa a couple of weeks before.

Not the way things are going at the shop. I barely get anytime to work on it. It's always everybody else's crap first. Should have my last project done in about 2 weeks. Then I can work on my stuff. Until something else pops up.

It would be nice if someone would degree these cams and post up the numbers at 0.005” and 0.050” for the rest of us. I’ve done so for the S52, Elgin regrinds and the Schrick 264/256 cams already.
