    Rear bumper cover repair

    Hi all,

My rear bumper cover is cracked and I'm hoping to repair/repaint it; (see pics). Ideally, I can co-erce the cracked section back into alignment and then epoxy/fiberglass it back together (structurely) and then fill in any seams with filler/bondo. I have a nice matching color spray paint to hopefully bring it back to almost new... At least that's the plan.

From the videos and posts I've seen, it looks like the smartest thing to do is to remove the entire bumper and then remove the plastic cover for the work. If anyone has a nice DIY or video, I'd love to see it. This post certainly had a lot of info, but, not sure if I need to do all of that: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...r-removal-Help!

Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Jay

Good luck repairing... Might be best to replace...What happened anyway?
6 13mm bolts in the trunk and a couple 8mm's at the rear wheel liners and a couple plastic pop outs at the same location as the 8's, then the whole bumper assembly slides right back & out.

I parked my Ford F250 in a different spot in the driveway and when I slowly backed up the 740, I JUST clipped the bumper of the truck with the rear corner of the 7. Thankfully no metal was comprimed, just the plastic bumper cover. I don't have the money to replace, so gotta try and remedy what I have. Without sounding completely stupid, it hasn't looked terrible with the Gorilla Glue Duct Tape. It's down low, the black of the tape matches the black plastic trim... But, I definitely would like to try and make an improvement. Someday I hope to have the money to do it right.

    Thanks.
