    buying a used bmw m3 smg

    hey guys ive been absent from the forums for a while, i ended up trading my old 328 for a 4dr 2003 330 and am now finally trying to jump the M3

    Looking at a 2003 bmw m3 smg, and dunno much other than that i had heard people say the smg could be problematic?

    just wanted some opinions on what to look for as possible issues and whether or not they are reliable, it is up there in mileage (130k)...

    Well to get the thread back on topic.....

    First and foremost, make sure you know what colors and options you want. While it is easier to swap seats around the carpet is a real PITA to get out. Once you find that special one with all that you are looking for, have a look at the car. If it looks good to you, the next step before any haggling or making an offer is to take the car to a BMW Specialist and get a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) done. The PPI is a tool you can use to see how well the car has been maintained. Also run a CarFax/Fox or whatever to see how many owners that car had. Also insist on seeing all the maintenance records, as this will tell you if the car has been taken care of or just dogged. Once you get all that info, then make a bid or offer.
