I've googled till I'm googled out. I've looked at more BMW diagrams of back doors than I can shake a stick at. I can't find the part # or the name of this missing piece! It was gone when I got the car. It's the trim piece between the two windows in the back door. Any idea? 2001 740IL. See picture, it's the piece that's missing.

You are missing your rear quarter window sun shade. It's #5 in the diagram and link to the part database below. You can see #4 in your pic (the brass support) for the window shade:Originally Posted by 951Dreams

If you got no desire for sunshades you can always get a regular plastic cover that goes on there.

YIKES!!! You weren't kidding!!! About $215!!! I don't think I need a sun shade that much!
These were much better, I found several for like 7 bucks, but they were $20 with shipping. Going to see what my local dealer can get me one for.
Thanks guys! I didn't know they were a sun shade! (I just noticed the other day the main shades are either gone or fallen inside the doors.) So all this time I've been looking for the wrong part!! That non-sunshade part I had looked at, but couldn't tell for sure it was the RIGHT part. Thanks for confirming!!! You've been a huge help!
