I'm trying to troubleshoot a whine that's coming from my A/C compressor area. It's a slight whine that I hear at idle with the A/C off. It goes away as soon as I engage the A/C or raise the revs a little. It does not increase with RPMs.
I searched and found some different potential problems like the bearing or pulley but don't know enough to understand which.
If they've never been done, then do both.

Turns out some belt dressing fixed it. Glad I persisted, a mechanic was trying to sell me on the idea that it was bearings in the A/C compressor.
