Hi everyone,
Ive been on the lookout for Z3 seat risers on ebay, but haven't found any. Does anyone have a set they would like to move on? or know where I can buy 2 sets for my car?
Looking to raise the front of the seat by about 10mm.
BMW MOA 696, BMW CCA 1405
I didn't like too much of a raise in the front that the kits provide, so I just used washers to lift the seat a little, and "T nuts" to replace the conventional nuts. Since you said "about 10mm", this may be best for you.
yeah made my own too, (like Vintage42 listed, thx btw mate but the rise was much too large.. where did you get the T-nuts and what size/length were they?
cheers
Feeling dirty as I just renovo'ed my roof again..
I got the T nuts at local hardware store, just took a nut that fit the studs in the car. They had 2 styles of T nut: one was flimsy with tangs to grab wood. The others were similar, but had a thicker head and no tangs. Of course I used the latter ones. If they are too long for the height you want, you can just shorten them with a hacksaw. Of course, use washers big enough to go outside the T nuts.
Just remember that whatever you mount your seat on is a safety device, so the hardware should be of an appropriate grade

Yup, 1 in was too high for me, bought parts on McMaster to raise 3/4 in. Also backed rails with a "wedge" made from hard, reinforced rubber sheeting, cut and press-glued to build the wedge 1/16 in at a time. When I tightened down on the bolts holding each rail, compressed the wedge a bit. I figure this helps to stabilize and avoid over stressing the bolts.
Lol so yeah it took me a while to track this stuff down, its not called a T-nut, its called a sleeve nut. LOL
cheers everyone, and yes ofcourse safety is the main concern.
