The chirp sound disappeared when I got the remote on key fob working. It used to chirp when locking/unlocking via door key. Now it flashes only and the alarm siren does not go off when alarm is triggered. Can someone tell me how to re-activate the chirp and alarm siren? Also where is the alarm siren located at? Thanks

Not knowing what you had to do to get the remote key working again...not sure what you'd have to do to return the audible alert for arm/disarm. Have you checked the fuse for Thief-proofing? On my 97 e38, those fuses are in the trunk above the battery and behind the insulation. There should be a fuse index & diagram on the back of your battery compartment's fold down door. The audible and visual alerts for DWA (anti-theft alarm siren system) is programmable through coding software/hardware...either at a BMW dealership or someone with the aftermarket software/hardware. See info below for coding and location of the alarm siren (or possibly horn in your case):
{trunk fuse index on back of battery compartment door...left side is list of fuses (alphabetical) & their fuse #...and the illustration on the right shows their numerical fuse location within the fuse gang-box behind the insulation}
{take note of ZKE/DWA coding options (if you have the software/hardware) in the far right column...you can select "audible" and/or "visual" arming/disarming as you choose}

I just fixed the problem.,apparently when checking all the fuses in the trunk I inadvertently pulled out some fuses that showed blank on the chart. I decided to put two 5amp fuses on the empty ones, and viola! Chirp and Alarm now works. BMW is noted for changing fuse block and does not update the chart in the trunk guide.

My 97 trunk fuse index indicates F56 (a 7.5amp fuse) & F58 (a 5amp fuse) for the alarm system. Make sure your fuses are the correct amperage.
