    Passenger Window Issue

New '05 325i owner and I discovered that the passenger side window will go down smoothly but when I lift the button to go up...nothing, just a click. I had to manually move glass back up. Is my window regulator the issue here? I've read this is a common issue but didn't see any post similar. I also noticed that the passenger side button is a little loose when lifting up....could that be the issue? Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

Sounds like a regulator. If you can pull the window up its not attached anymore. You can hold the key in the lock position in the door lock and see if it goes up then to bypass the window switch.

Thanks so much! Is it possible that the glass isn't connected to the regulator anymore and could need to be tightened?

Nope, as it will have plastic connectors, and those connectors like to break loose. I think it is a design flaw, but it is more of a safety factor in a way so you cannot chop anybody in half.

Now I have seen people buying replacements or rebuild kits, but IMO that is just cheap garbage.

The Original one lasted 13 years, might just as well buy another from BMW.

Oh and BTW our regulators are made by BROSE: Broken Regulators Our Special Enterprise!

So does my issue sound more like a broken regulator clip or the whole regulator itself? I've also read that it could be the safety pressure switch in the passenger window track....but not seeing any DIY tutorials on that.
    Thanks

You will have to replace the whole regulator, here is one from our forum sponsor: https://thebmwminipartstore.com/part...&siteid=218365

The pressure or safety switch works 2 ways: Excess demand from the window motor and a trip switch on the window frame.

While you may have a bad window regulator as well, the problem where the window will go down fine, but, doesn't move going up and only makes a tiny click sound (from behind the glove box), is a general module 5 problem. The module will need to be repaired or replaced.
