    RealOEM accuracy regarding transmission?

Ive got a seller on craigslist thats parted out a beautiful purple on purple E38 with 95,000 miles. I need the transmission and been on the hunt for a while.

His is a 03/98 740i. I put in his VIN into Realoem and found that the only option for a transmission is the 24001423193 5HP24. My 09/97 built 740iL has 24001423193 as well as 24001423305 which is the tranny for the shorter rear diff which my car does not have. Question is, should his transmission be a perfect match for mine or do I still need to get the exact model number off of both transmissions to match? My worry is a change in TCU connector on the transmission end...

I think as long as its pre facelift to prefacelift you should be good... My 02 98 has one installed from a 97 IIRC and all was good. I replaced fluid, filter and gasket and trans mounts at the same time...

Yea ill be doing the same as well. Honestly with these transmissions, I would really like to do a rebuild but thats just too much money on my E38 which really isnt in the greatest shape. Not going to lie, im a bit afraid of opening the oil pan on the donor transmission and finding parts of the drum. It is a low mileage car though so it should be fine.

    Thank you for the input.
