I am on the hunt for a 2.0 litre crankshaft for my M10 build and a fellow member living relatively close has an M10, that he is not 100% sure if it's 1.8 or 2.0 litre. He has sent me these two pictures. One picture has an engine number: 05442962, which I think says it's an M10, serial number 544, made in Munich, the last three digits should say month & year of manufacture from what I have read. Am I missing something? Don;t think it would have been made in Sept 1962. What I read on 2002faq was: 0 is M10, next 3 digits are serial number, 5th digit is factory and last 3 digits are month year.
Also the picture doesn't show an engine code - which seems weird. If it was there it would say 20 or 18 for displacement - Correct?
The other picture of the block looks to be 1269500 or 1269588?
Any ideas what engine this is or where else to look to figure out if it's 2.0 litre?
Thanks!
If he has the intake I could tell right away.
2.0 crank has 80 mm stroke, 1.8 crank has 71 mm stroke.

Update - couple more pics - is it a 1.8 or 2.0?

Looks like it's stamped 1982?
If so, a 1.8
Thanks SoCalE21 - that's what I was thinking: 82 24B = Feb 24 1982
aluminum engine mounts means 1.8.
