BUY? 323Ci : e46 Convertible - year 2000, miles 158k

I'm going to have a look at a 2000 323Ci. Photos look good, but for all I know it might be a 20-footer, and up close, Junk.
Still, anything on that particular year (2000) that I need to look out for? Also, when I owned a '97 328Ci, (E36) there was a key and button sequence that would tell you if the car was ever overheated, and test a couple of things... anything similar on the E46?

^^^ Well, it's all I have. The prime purpose of my post was to learn about particular problems the e46 has.
I can easily list problematic areas of the e36. The sticky beginning sticky on problems of the e46 almost empty.

There is a another forum dedicated to the E46 where many of the users have forgotten more about the E46 than the BMW designers ever knew.
