All Possible Failure Points in an E46 M3

    Hello,

I know that there are the threads with common issues (subframe, rod bearings, Vanos, etc), but I want to figure out all points that will fail in an E46 M3. Now, I know that everything WILL FAIL in due time, but I'm looking into what fails in the E46 M3 in, say, 500,000 miles. I know the common issues are:

    Rod Bearing
    Sub Frame
    Vanos
    Slip Ring
    Probably Seals
    Clutch
    Tires
    Possibly Suspension

Any other issues that can arise?

You need to be more specific in terms of mileage and years...

By 500k miles every single thing will prob need to be replaced.

Tires for 500k miles? Those barely last 30k miles. Even if you drive like a grandma they won't last 500k miles and will be corded/gone. And if you want to drive like a grandma, why buy an M3?

Bearings are a wear item with intervals of ~75k-125k miles, depending on how you drive and how much time you spend at/around redline.

What is this list for? You trying to get a very high mileage M car?

Every car will need most items replaced by 500k miles, so I don't get the point of this thread...

Most of those cars won't see more than 200k miles anyway, and besides they are getting sucked up by the High School crowd who beat them to death anyway.

I am at 95k miles and at the current rate it will take me another 10 years before I even see 150k miles. Like noted above most rubber doesn't last beyond the 200k mark.
