Hey Everybody,
I want to replace my drivers side seat cushion (the part you sit on) with a replacement one. How do I remove the old one? I am not trying to remove the leather, rather I want to remove the entire cushion and swap in a replacement.
Thanks!
Well, you have to remove the seat from the car to start, and then it's a matter of disassembling the seat cushion from the frame. It's been some time now, but I recall removing hog rings, wiring, cables, motors, and quite a bit of hardware and fasteners. I put my seats on a spread out moving blanket to catch all the bits and pieces as they came apart, and took photos as I went to document the path of wiring, position of tracks, placement of hog rings, path of cables, etc. The only really tricky parts were in removing the seat backs as I recall, but it sounds like you're not doing that. After you've moved the seat back and forth to remove the seat track bolts, do yourself a favor and either disconnect the battery, or hide the keys. DO NOT turn the key on after you've removed the seat unless you have an SRS reset tool handy. It's a big project--allocate some time and some down time--you may not complete it in a single day.
This is a total seat tear down put together by Vinci. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...at-belt-guides. Should help you get what you need.
