Z3 s65 or s85 engine swaps

Title says it all, I can’t in good conscience pay for a s54 M coupe in today’s market, so I’d love to buy an s52 and drop a stroked s65 in it but the few examples of engine swaps I’ve seen in BMW’s have been incredibly cost prohibitive. Wondering if anyone knows of other examples/places/methods of doing this that isn’t insanely pricey for the labor alone.

labor isn't expensive if you do it yourself, otherwise you are paying people to figure it out and that gets expensive especially if you don't already "know a guy"

s52 coupes are much less expensive than s54 coupes. Usually over 50% cheaper. S52s can be had from 15-30k where s54s are typically 25k at the lowend, going up to over 50 grand for quality examples.



but if he's going to simply swap the engine anyway, why not find a beat z3 coupe with an m52 and go from there? Surely fitting on the exhaust and swapping the bumpers will be less expensive than the premium for an m coupe (regardless of the engine).

I currently have a z3 coupe with an m52tu that I’ll most likely swap an s52 into it with some mods in the near future .
