    Unhappy Navi/Bluetooth/Settings issues.

    Hi Everyone!

I have a '05 E83. I had a leak that I recently discovered coming from the sunroof. I, unfortunately, was not able to catch it in time to avoid any damage caused by the leak. My navigation unit (MK4) doesn't appear to be working anymore (I receive the "please wait a moment" message, but the map never appears, yet the altitude still appears on the screen. Also, it's difficult to eject the disc). I've changed the internal drive thinking that it might not have been reading the disc correctly, but the issue still exists. Should I replace the entire unit, or could it be another issue somewhere else?

My Bluetooth unit isn't accessible anymore either. On the menu, after a few moments it "greys out" and can't be accessed. Is it the unit or does it need to be reprogrammed? I've read issues where at times after the battery is disconnected or replaced, certain devices need to be reprogrammed or calibrated so the system would recognize it again.

Also, I can't access any of the settings on the car - I can't set the date/time, or access anything else. Whenever I select it, the system freezes. I could no longer select anything or change screens. Everything stays frozen on the menu screen until I turn off the car and restart everything.

I brought the car to my mechanic (Not the dealer) and he replaced the sunroof. He said that I have to bring it to BMW to have them calibrate it - and not to attempt to use it until I do. I searched online regarding calibration and was only able to find instructions as to re-initialize the sunroof. Is that the same thing? Is calibration something I can do myself, or is it something that MUST be done by the dealer?

The Navi/Bluetooth issues - do those units need to be replaced? OR do I have to replace a control module that controls those units?

The Settings - do I have to replace anything to fix that?

Any advice/recommendations are GREATLY appreciated and thanks so much for taking the time to read my lengthy post!

Sunroof calibration hold sunroof to tilt position and continue to hold until it runs its cycle. Very easy
