Greetings,
I bought a door lock repair kit for my 2003 e46 in order to replace the spring which had broken. The problem I'm having is that, after re-assembling the unit, the key is hitting something in the chamber and will move only halfway forward.
The kit pieces themselves don't seem to be the issue. I only replaced the spring and the pin. And before I apply pressure to the top of the assembly the key will move freely in and out.
What I found is that applying pressure to the "shoulder" area of the piece (see linked photo at bottom) seems to push something into the chamber to block the key. If I relieve pressure from the shoulders I can wiggle the key until it once again moves freely in and out.
If you've assembled a door repair kit you know that the mini plate that you slide over the loaded spring shoves those "shoulders" downward.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, what did you do to solve it?
Thank you!
