Hi all - just pulled the head off of a friends 730 (blown gasket - overheated) its in good condition (no rot) except for being warped - my question is - is there a way to get it faced without disassembling the rocker gear ?
Yes well - on rotating the cam there is a position where a valve on No6 is fully extended and a valve on No2 is partially extended - so couldn't I back out the rockershaft enough to get the No6 rocker off and take the valve clearance adjuster disc off the rocker for No2 and have all the valves shut enough to face the head ? - although - seeing the head is warped by about 0.15 thou am I just wasting my time ?
The cam needs to come out. .015" is no problem, be sure to have the timing cover milled along with the head.
