Key FOB not working....general control module?

All of a sudden neither key fob is working, and the batteries are relatively new. I've been looking around and see that sometimes the general control box can be faulty and cause this issue. True?

I also thought it could be a fuse, but I looked in both the glove box and trunk, none seem to be bad. Anyone know which fuse it would be?

From what I've read, a symptom of a bad GCM is that the center door lock/unlock button doesn't work, mine does. Also my door actuators are functioning, although the driver's side sometimes sticks. One thing that was suggested was to check fuse F53, it is fine.

None of the buttons on the key fob do anything, although the red light does blink.

Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks.

Maybe it needs to be resynced with the car?
The procedure is in the manual...

define "not working". Won't open the doors, won't start the car, or both?

If the suggestion below doesn't work...then you need to focus on why your driver's door lock actuator is "sticking". A central locking system (FZV) not working 100% can cause remote central locking (FBZV) to not work.

Have you tried a simple reinitialization of the remote keys? If not, see the info below and pay attention to some details that can cause failure to program:
    • KL R = ignition position 1 (not position 2 or engine running)
    • make sure ALL doors are CLOSED
    • make sure ALL doors are UNLOCKED
    • only insert the 1st remote into the ignition
    • follow STEP 6 to program additional remotes...where you PRESS & HOLD button #2 (do NOT stick the additional remotes into the ignition...if you do it will cancel the 1st remote you just reprogrammed)

A failed gas door lock can also cause the remote not to work...
