Working to buy a used E90 out of state at Auction. Trying to decide if I want to pick it up in city of Auction and have checked out there or have trucked to Oklahoma City and have checked out here. Either way, car will come with a 14 day / 250 mile opportunity to find any undisclosed issues. Any opinions?
The sooner you drive it, the sooner you understand how it's working. And what's more fun than a cross-country drive in a car you just got????
No-brainer!
Picked up! 2009 335xi 67k miles. In great shape. 6 MT. Took it to BMW Autohaus in St. Louis. Only issue identified was rear brakes in the future.
Car is an absolute blast to drive.
Was it an auction open to the public, or a dealer type auction?
You've got more courage than I have to buy from an auction.
Dealer auction. But, I had the vin and paid for the carfax. Carfax showed that the vehicle had been serviced exclusively by BMW Autohaus in St. Louis. All oil changes were timely. So, yes, there was a gambling portion to the transaction, but it wasn't blind. Price was about $250 over trade in, so there is room for about $4k of repairs to stay ahead on the gamble.
Sounds like a winner to me.
