    Question ODB1 318ti to non vanos m50 help :)

Hey guys haven't logged in in a while, but I'm back I posted a thread like almost a year ago about how my ti was just cranking then I noticed my clutch was donezo also so I decided to do what any logical person would do instead of replacing the sensors and clutch I'm swapping the whole motor . So i pulled the m42 the other day and my m50 is sitting right next to the car but before i bolt the trannie up and slip it back in I have a few questions. First I need help identifying what all these hoses are - I circled the ones I need help with and labeled them with numbers so it will be easier for you guys to tell me about lol.

    on the ti
    IMG_6258.jpgIMG_6255.jpgwhats this black cylinder also?

    Now for some more questions.

I've been getting most of my info from this thread http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=811944, and I'm having difficulty understanding the wiring part,

"This car was a 95’ so it was EWSII. Running a red label 413 DME on the m50 gets past part of that but there is some wiring that needs address as well.

The ews box mounts under the glovebox. There’s a thicker green and black/yellow wire. Cut these and connect them together on the car side. You may also have to snip a smaller wire on the chassis side of the harness plug if you get a crank/no start condition. (Green wire, pin 7 I believe)"

So my question is in his thread he's swapping a vanos motor and I am not is there a non vanos dme that negates the ews2 and/or what is the method of disabling the ews2 in my 318ti I need something more descriptive.

And help will be appreciated sorry if I sound really noob it's my first big project and I absolutely love this chassis and engine and want to get this done already Ive been on and off on this for around a year now and really wanna get this done .

    ODB1 318ti to non vanos m50 help 😊

Glad to see a nice M50 go in there . The black cylinder would be your fuel evap canister on the M42 and on the first M50 pic I believe 1 thru 4 are your PCV hoses but I may be wrong.

Edit: oh and the two hoses on the M42 engine side run from your heater control valve to the heater core behind the dash.

Thank you Im so excited an odb1 m50 w a odb1 318ti double rare lol, So do I need the fuel evap canister for the m50 or is it one of those weird m42 only kinda things. Then you're saying the red 1,2 are for the heater core? Or 3,4. Ahhhhh I gotta figure out which parts are important and which parts I gotta plug or whatever. I got the basics understood but I'm getting mixed up w the extra stuff :/
