Hi all.
On the M52, the engine cover (beauty trim) is attached to the valve cover by means of a rubber insulated stud. (Threads on both ends, rubber spacer in the middle.)
I have the need to remove both of them, but I'm not sure of the best way to go about this. I've run double nuts on the exposed portion of the stud, but any torque is causing the rubber center to twist. I'm afraid if I lay into it, it'll twist the rubber in half!
Anyone dealt with these before? Best practices?
Thanks!
James

If you can't get ahold of the washer embedded in the rubber you might have to twist them apart and get it removed and install new ones.

Yep.
Try to get a channel lock on the metal washer under the runner.
These are basically wear items, they don't last forever due to engine heat and are cheap from FCP Euro or ECS.
