    Shock absorber or strut

Hi, I searched and cannot find any answer.

I bought a 735iL 92 with ASC and EDC yesterday. I know EDC its not working and very expensive to fix, so my questions are:

What do I have to buy to put it in replace without modification? Shock absorber or strut? Is it necessary to change the springs and why?

    Thanks

I saw this thread but I have to say I'm still confuse..

Some say strut, some say shocks some say strut/shock

For front I can use strut and for rear I use shock?

I'm insisting to know exactly because I'll have to pay high freight and SUPER HIGH TAXES, so I can't go wrong.

Brazil it's a shame on taxes

The technical breakdown is a strut with a shock insert for the front, which would be considered a strut assembly as a unit. The rear are struts.

If I had to fill out a custom form and was listing the regular replacement components, I would put shock for the front and strut for the rear.

I was in a similar situation last year with my front suspension last year. Unfortunately I didn't start posting until I'd fixed the issue using searching the forum and realoem.com. This link is how I eventually got the front end fixed on the cheap. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...Pre-7-90-735iL

For the rear, I only have the self leveling, no EDC or ASC but you may consider keeping them. Ive read that removing the LAD/SLS can be a pain and degrades the vehicles handling so I can only imagine what removing EDC would do. Good luck to ya!

I think I'll buy strut inserts, shocks and springs OE, and with some patience and time we'll try to fix LAD and EDC, replacing all origns, xrings, seals, oil and see if it works.

    Thanks
